ST. PAUL, Minn - With the conclusion of the 2017 North Central University Volleyball season the Rams saw sophomore Emma Middendorf earn her first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference honor as she was named the the UMAC Volleyball All-Conference Second Team as voted on by UMAC head volleyball coaches.
The former Minnewaska Area high school standout led the NCU volleyball team in kills per set (2.31) as well as total kills (210). On the defensive side, Middendorf led the Rams in blocks per set with 0.52 on the year as well as total blocks with 47.
"Emma definitely deserves this recognition from the UMAC." Said first year head coach, Faith Vander Galien. "She is so intentional with her work ethic, attitude, focus, and play on the court. She is not only a great athlete, but connects so well with her teammates. Above all else, she seeks to maker her talent on the court her testimony to other opponents and spectators. North Central Volleyball's theme is ONE. So even though Emma was the one recognized for this award, we take it as a team victory. Her success could not have happened without a tenacious back row and strategic setters. I am so proud of my team."
The honor is the first time that Middendorf was named to a UMAC All-Conference team in her short career. Last season she was awarded the 2016 UMAC Volleyball Sportsmanship Award for North Central in her first season of collegiate athletics.
