ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its all-conference awards for the 2017 men's soccer season on Tuesday afternoon. Both Josué Boutouli (Lome, Togo/Eagan) and Danny Williams (Coon Rapids, Minn./Spring Lake Park) were named to the UMAC All-Conference team for their achievement on the field this season. Boutouli earned UMAC First Team All-Conference honors while Williams was selected to the honorable mention team.
For the second straight year, Boutouli was selected to the all-conference team. In his first year, Boutouli was named to the UMAC All-Conference Second Team. As a staple to the Rams offense, starting in all 16 games of the season, Boutouli led the team in every offensive statistical category except assists, scoring 11 goals in his sophomore campaign.
"Josue is a two-way player who is always dictating the game when he has the ball and is always working to get it back when he doesn't," said NCU head coach George Carr. He continued, "In addition, his superior athleticism means he will rarely loose on a tackle and can sheild the ball from even the strongest players."
Joining Boutouli on the UMAC All-Conference awards list was Williams, who finished his third year in a Rams uniform. In Williams' first two seasons, he served the Rams in an outside back position before moving into the midfield in 2017. With two goals and 13 starts in 2017, Williams had his most productive season in addition to contributing in the buildup of multiple goals.
Carr also spoke on Williams selection to the All-Conference list, saying, "Danny is possibly the best athlete our program has ever had. His speed, agility, and aerial presence is matched by no one in our conference. On top of that he is a team leader, is very skilled on the ball, and is an excellent tackler."
Senior captain Jake Loukinen (Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls) was also named North Central's representative for the individual sportsmanship award for 2017.
