MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- North Central University Baseball named its season award winners last week during the same time that the NCCAA announced the all-region awards for 2013. Three Rams were named on the all-region team to compliment the four individual team awards bestowed by the coaches.
Senior Gary Ramos (Chicago, Ill./Foreman) was named the team's most valuable player for 2013. Ramos led the team with a .373 batting average to go along with a team high in hits, doubles, triples, on-base percentage and RBI. Ramos will wrap up his NCU career as the all-time leader in batting average and doubles.
Freshman Nick Kelly (Hudson, Iowa/Hudson) was named the team's most improved player while freshman Cody Van Sickle (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem) was given the rookie of the year honor. The coaches award went to senior Devin Lehnhoff (Ellendale, N.D./Ellendale). Lehnhoff, a right handed pitcher, is the Rams career starts, appearances, complete game and strikout record holder.
Gary Ramos and Devin Lehnhoff were joined by junior Ian Andrews (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) on the 2013 NCCAA All-Region Team. Andrews was second on the team in batting average (.274), hits and RBI.
