Strong Second Half Elevates Pipers Over Rams

MINNEAPOLIS - North Central Men's Basketball (0-3) fell to Hamline University (2-0), 79-60, in a non-conference match up with the Pipers on Tuesday evening. North Central led by as much as five points early in the first half before the Pipers offense offset the Rams cold shooting. The Pipers led by five at halftime before going on a 14-4 run in the second half to pull away for the win. Jared High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) had 19 points and seven boards for the Rams. 

The Rams and Pipers were never more than five points apart in the first half. North Central jumped out to the quick lead but the Pipers would overtake the Rams halfway through the first half. However, in the second half the Pipers dominated the Rams from the floor shooting 60.7 percent from the floor and 54.5 percent from beyond the arc compared to the Rams 48 percent field goal shooting and 25 percent from three-point range. AJ McGrew (Maple Valley, Wash./Kennedy) also added nine points and three rebounds for the Rams.

North Central will be back in action on Thursday, November 30 against Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, Wis. for a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) match up with the Sabercats. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
