MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - North Central University men's basketball opened Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play for the 2017-2018 season with a win over Martin Luther College by a score of 101-83 on Wednesday night. NCU (2-4, 1-0) shot 51.4 percent (37-for-72) from the field on the night as Martin Luther (0-7, 0-1) shot 38.1 percent (24-for-63).
Trailing at the break 45-43 the Rams opened the second half on a tear as a 12-2 run turned a two point deficit into a ten point advantage. The Rams would continue to shoot well in the second half ultimately extending their lead to eighteen for their first UMAC win of the season.
The Rams were lead by CJ Lewis with 25 points as he went 7-for-10 from the field and 5-for-6 from behind the arc. Marcus Wynn added 22 points, shooting 9-for-16 from the field while adding four buckets from three-point range. All five starters for the Rams were in double figures as Riley Loukinen add 11 points while Joel Cline and Jared High added 14 points a piece. Roy Mack added seven points coming off the bench for the Rams.
NCU will be back in action tomorrow night in a non-conference matchup against Oak Hills Christian College at home at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday the Rams will continue UMAC competition against Northwestern-St.Paul at 3:00 p.m. in Clark Danielson gymnasium.
