DE PERE, Wis.-- North Central University men's basketball came up short on the road on Tuesday evening. In the finale to the front half of their schedule, the Rams ended up on the wrong end of a 75-62 score line with St. Norbert College.
North Central (4-7, 2-2 UMAC) jumped out to an early ten-point advantage and held the Green Knights to just seven points over the first six minutes. St. Norbert would respond over the second part of the opening half and took their first lead of the game around the 12-minute mark. NCU was able to get back in front at two different points before the host retook the lead and closed out the first 20 minutes up 43-34.
The second half saw the Green Knights push their lead all the way to 69-51 with under six minutes to play before the Rams made a final push. NCU got within eight with 52 seconds left but SNC closed out the win.
Junior C.J. Lewis (Minneapolis, Minn./Bloomington-Kennedy) led the Rams with 16 points and 4 rebounds. Sophomore Marcus Wynn (Tromso, Norway / G-E-T (Riverland CC)) added 13 points while junior Jared High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) chipped in with 12.
The Rams will get back to action in 2018 with an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference game at the University of Minnesota-Morris (Morris, Minn.). NCU will tip-off with the Cougars at 3 p.m. on January 6. Live stats and video will be linked on www.ncurams.com.
