DELLS, Wisc - Day one of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) regional tournament came to a close on Thursday. The Rams are currently sitting in fifth place in the five team field at Trappers Turn Golf Club. D.J. O'Brien paced the Rams as he fired a season low 78 for the Rams for fifth place overall on day one.
NCU is 27 strokes back of Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in the five team field that includes three NAIA schools and two NCAA Division III schools. Fellow Upper Midwest Athletic Conference foe Northwestern St. Paul is currently holding a five stroke lead over the field.
With O'Brien leading the pack on day one with a 78 the Rams also looked to Justin Johnson for an 85 which puts him in a tie for 16th place in the field. The Rams rounded out their scoring with Ben Majerle, Noah Gross, and Andrew Thompson delivering a 92, 101, and a 103 respectively.
O'Brien and the Rams will look to continue their NCCAA regional action tomorrow at Trappers Turn with the first tee time slated for 9:00 a.m. (CDT). O'Brien will look to add to his strong first round as he sits three strokes behind tournament leader, Roman Ojala of Bethel College (Ind.)
