WAUKESHA, Wis. - As the North Central University men's lacrosse team continues to emerge as a reputable program, one significant step in the process has been to accept the invitation to join the Midwest Lacrosse Conference in the spring of 2019. The conference announced this on Monday.
North Central will join as newcomers alongside the University of Northwestern St. Paul. Current MLC institutions include Aurora University, Beloit College, Benedictine University, Concordia University Chicago, Concordia University Wisconsin, Cornell College, Fontbonne University, Marian University, Monmouth College and MSOE. The Midwest Lacrosse conference began as an NCAA Division III member conference in 2010.
"Becoming a member of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference is an important step as North Central's men's lacrosse program -- which will be in its third season in 2018-2019 -- continues to develop" said NCU Director of Athletics Greg Johnson. "We look forward to contributing to the progression and competitiveness of the league, joining the other respected teams, coaches, and administrators that make the MLC as reputable as it is."
"We are excited about the opportunity for NCU lacrosse to be a part of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference." Said NCU head coach Billy Frick. "This is a great next step for our program as we will be a part of a conference that has made great contributions to the growth of the sport in the midwest."
The NCU men's team will look to continue the building process following their first season of competition in 2017. The 2018 season is slated to begin, Saturday February 24th, at Elliot Park Field in downtown Minneapolis as the Rams host Marian University.
