CHICAGO - North Central University men's lacrosse (0-3) completed their spring break trip with a close loss to Concordia Chicago Cougars (1-3) on Friday morning, 9-5. North Central outshot the Cougars 33-30 but were less successful on the collecting ground balls and faceoffs compared to Concordia. Tim Dokken (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) led the Rams with three goals and an assist tallying four points.
The Rams got on the board first from Dokken at the 13:50 mark of the first quarter. Less than two minutes later the Cougars tied the game at one apiece. Concordia scored two unanswered goals before Dokken emerged again for the Rams bringing the score to 3-2 in favor of Concordia. The Cougars added two goals in the last three minutes to lead the Rams 5-2 after the first quarter of play.
Roughly three minutes into the second quarter Brenden Berg scored for North Central to bring the Cougars lead down to two. The Cougars then extended the lead with 19 seconds left in the half to bring the score to 6-3 just before the halftime whistle. Two goals from Jordan Loeffler in the third quarter gave the Cougars a five goal advantage before Dokken score his third goal of the game with 22 seconds left in the quarter to cut the lead to four. In the final 15 minutes both teams added another goal. Levi Kiffmeyer (Blaine, Minn./Homeschool) scored for the Rams at the 9:29 mark. Despite the Rams offensive efforts it wasn't enough to hold off the Cougars.
The Rams will be in action on Monday, March 12 at 4 p.m. against Marian University. The game is a reschedule from February 24 and will be played at The University of Northwestern-St. Paul. Live stats and video will be provided via the Rams website.
