ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced their weekly player of the week awards on Monday afternoon. North Central softball's Emma Bushey (Three Lakes, Wis./Three Lakes) was awarded UMAC Pitcher of the Week following an impressive start to her collegiate career this past week in Florida. Bushey posted 28 strikeouts in 30.1 innings pitched and secured two wins for the Rams.
In Bushey's first win over Morrisville State she pitched a complete game and had nine strikeouts with just one earned run allowed. This win snapped a 45-game losing streak that dated back to April 14, 2016. In the second game against Lancaster Bible, Bushey again pitched a complete game and had 10 strikeouts to lead the Rams to their second victory of the week. From the plate, Bushey had nine at-bats with one run and one RBI.
This is North Central's first UMAC softball player of the week award in recent history.
North Central softball will be back in action this weekend for the NCU Dome Tournament which will be held at the Plymouth Dome in Plymouth, Minnesota. The Rams will have three games on both Thursday and Friday beginning at 8 a.m.
