WATERTOWN, Wis. - In their first set of games since the NCU Dome Tournament, North Central University softball (6-10) swept Maranatha Baptist University (0-7) in the first of two days of games between the two schools. The Rams improved to six wins on the season which is the first time the Rams won six games in one season dating back to the spring of 2015 when the Rams finished 6-24 that year.
Game 1: North Central's offense was led by the first year Rams who scored six of the ten runs and had four of the seven hits. The Rams got on the scoreboard first after Ellee Laws (Odgen, Iowa/Odgen) hit a triple in the top of the first which resulted in a 3-0 start after the top of the lineup all got on base. Immediately following Laws' triple Emily Loop (Phelan, Calif./Serrano) hit a double and the Rams went up 4-0. In the bottom of the second, Ali Cornelius (Milaca, Minn./Spectrum) hit a home run, her first of the season, to bat Kylee Bommersbach (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) home to go up 7-0 on the Sabercats. Rams defense held the Sabercats scoreless, the first game all season the Rams did not give up a run.
Game 2: Cornelius pitched 5.0 innings with seven strikeouts all while grabbing four hits, five runs, and seven RBI in the game. North Central trailed Maranatha, 2-1, after the first inning but found their momentum after Cornelius hit a grand slam in the top of the second inning to establish the lead. The Rams added five runs in the top of the fourth to extend the lead. Three Rams had four hits each in game two (Roth, Cornelius, and Loop). Bommersbach also recorded a hit to aid the Rams offensive efforts resulting in the 17-10 win over Maranatha.

First pitch is set for 11 a.m. and game two will follow roughly 25 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
