MINNEAPOLIS - North Central women's basketball (3-8, 1-5 UMAC) defeated Northland College Lumberjills (1-13, 0-6 UMAC) on Wednesday evening in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup, 53-39. The Rams outscored the Jills in three of the four quarters resulting in the 14 point win.
Northland grabbed the quick lead before the Rams went on a 6-0 run to regain the lead and never looked back. The Rams lead by as much as 15 points in the dominate victory. Haleigh Filer (Sacramento, Calif./Capital Christian) returned to the Rams starting lineup after being sidelined for the beginning half of the season with a concussion. In her return, Filer scored 13 points and had eight rebounds in her closest attempt at a double-double this season. Bethany Shield (Lincoln, Neb./Southwest) added ten points for the Rams.
North Central will be back in action on Saturday, January 13 in a UMAC contest with The University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. at North Central University in The Clark-Danielson Gymnasium.
