MINNEAPOLIS, Minn - The North Central University women's basketball team fell to the College of St. Scholastica on Wednesday night 74-50. Despite a hard fought game the Rams were not able to keep pace with the Saints as NCU shot 34 percent from the field.
St. Scholastica jumped out early in the first quarter as they built a 23-7 advantage after one quarter of play. The Saints would continue to put the pressure on through the remainder of the first half as they would head into the lockeroom with a 40-21 lead. Rashonna Thomas recorded 12 points in the first half as she led the way for the Saints. NCU was led by seven points from Lizzy Swanson in the first half.
In the third quarter the Rams were able have their most efficient offensive stretch of the night as they matched the Saints in scoring. As the game wore on the Saints continued to put pressure on the Rams ultimately extending their lead.
NCU was led by Lizzy Swanson as she recorded 14 points and five rebounds. Bethany Shield added 10 points as she shot 3-for-7 from the field and 4-for-7 from the free throw line. Allison Bulthuis added seven points coming off the bench for the Rams.
The Rams will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Crown College in the first of three consecutive road games over the next week and a half. Live statistics and video feed will be made available for the game on Saturday that is slated to tipoff at 5:00 p.m.
