Volleyball Set to Host Annual Invitational

Karlee Cox gets up for an attack vs. Providence College.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- North Central University will play host to their annual Women's Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The two day event will feature 10 matches between teams from four states and Manitoba. Action begins at Noon on Friday and wraps up with a 5 p.m. match on Saturday evening.

The tournament will open with Providence University-College (Otterburne, Manitoba) taking on Trinity Bible College (Ellendale, N.D.) at Noon on Friday. Providence is the defending NCCAA Division II North Central Region Champion. Trinity Bible was the second place team in the region in 2012 and this will be an important test for both schools.

The second match on Friday features Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, Iowa) taking on Finlandia University (Hancock, Mich.) at 2 p.m. Faith Baptist recently earned the number ten spot in the NCCAA Division II National Poll after their fourth place finish at their annual Spikefest home tournament last weekend. Finlandia is an NCAA Division III team from the Great South Athletic Conference who started the season 0-4 at the Beloit College (Beloit, Wis.) Tournament last weekend.

North Central will have their first match of the tournament at 4 p.m. when they take on Trinity Bible College. The Rams will wrap up the action on day one with an 8 p.m. match with Finlandia.

Saturday has the Rams taking on Faith Baptist at 1 p.m. before closing the tournament versus Providence College at 5 p.m.
