ST. PAUL, Minn - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference announced the award winners for week two of UMAC player of the week awards today. The awards are nominated and voted on weekly by all UMAC Sports Information Directors. Receiving recognition for North Central University volleyball was senior Maddie Stocker as she was selected the UMAC volleyball defensive player of the week.
Stocker had a milestone week as she helped lead the Rams to two wins during the North Central University invitational. During this time, she broke the single game digs record with a monster game against Providence (35 digs). She also has set the longest streak of 30+ digs in consecutive matches for North Central University as she has 3 straight headed into next weekend. On the week, Stocker accumulated 139 digs over the course of 5 matches. Throughout the week, Stocker's statistics included:
vs Macalester (9/5) - 24 digs, 3 assists, 2 kills
vs Calvary (9/7) - 15 digs, 1 kill
vs Providence (9/7) - 35 digs (NCU single game record), 4 assists
vs Faith Baptist (9/8) - 31 digs, 4 assists
vs Oak Hills (9/8) - 34 digs, 3 assists, 1 kill
Stocker will look to build on her strong start to the season when North Central plays host to fellow UMAC competitors, UW-Superior (2:00PM) and Bethany Lutheran (6:00PM), next weekend at the Clark-Danielson Gymnasium.
