Saints Too Much for Rams

Box Score

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- North Central University was defeated 3-0 by The College of St. Scholastica at home on Friday night. The Saints came into the match tied for the top spot in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) and proved why with a decisive victory over NCU.

North Central is still looking for its first UMAC victory of the year after being bested 25-12, 25-16, 25-13 by the defending UMAC Post-Season Tournament Champion. Senior Mariah Simonson (Zumbrota, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazzepa) led the Rams attack with eight kills and two service aces.

Sophomore Veronica Parks (Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley) led the Rams with eight digs. Senior Anna Bird (Bloomington, Minn./Bloomington) recorded a solo block and three block assists.

North Central will be back in action tomorrow with a pair of home UMAC matches. The unique scheduling arrangement will have NCU hosting Northland College (Ashland, Wis.) at Noon before taking on Northwestern College (St. Paul, Minn.) at 6 p.m.

The break between matches will allow each team to recover from their first conference match of the day before playing match later in the day. The top two teams in the UMAC, Northwestern and St Scholastica will be playing in St. Paul at the same time NCU takes on Northland.
