Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

SAAC's Purpose 

The North Central University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee serves to generate a voice and bridge the gap between administration and student-athletes. 

Mission Statement 

The NCU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is committed to enhancing the student-athlete experience by promoting the priorities and values of our student-athletes. SAAC upholds the values of Integrity, Diversity, Inclusiveness, and Christlikeness, fostering these principles across our campus. As a liaison between student-athletes and administration, we strive to cultivate a Christ-centered student-athlete identity.

Constitution

Article I. Membership

1. SAAC will consist of no more than 12 Student-Athlete Members and no fewer than 6 members.

2. There must be an application and interview process overseen by the members of SAAC.

3. There must be at least 2 members of each sex on the committee.

4. Members of SAAC are expected to best represent NCU, the UMAC, NCAA, and NCCAA by adhering to their guidelines and policies.


Article II. Meetings

1. There will be a minimum of Bi-Weekly meetings, excluding unforeseen circumstances.

2. In the case of three no-call, no-shows, that member's future in SAAC is up to the discretion of the committee.

        a. Excused absences include: medical, family, athletic events, school, or other reasons, which are up to the discretion of the board.

3. It's expected that all members come prepared, given the meeting agenda, and they are expected to give full attention and participation in each meeting.
 

Article III. Election Process

1. Members must vote for their top 3 choices in a tiered voting system.

        a. First place vote is worth 3 points, 2nd place vote is worth 2 points, 3rd place vote is worth 1 point, and no vote is worth 0 points.

2. The member with the most points will be elected to his or her position.

3. Members may not vote for themselves.
 

Article IV. Voting on Council Actions

1. Any member may bring up an action at the end of a meeting, and that action will then be voted on at the beginning of the following meeting.

2. Each member gets 1 vote.

3. The majority is required to move forward with the decision.

4. In case of a tie, the SAAC Advisor will be the deciding vote.


Article V. Additional Amendments

1. Amendments to this constitution may be introduced at the conclusion of any meeting. Voting shall occur at the next meeting, with the new amendment taking effect following the decision.

2. If the amendment passes, it shall be written in the constitution and followed immediately.
