Volleyball Taken Down by Storm

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn.-- North Central Women's Volleyball traveled to Crown College for a Friday evening conference match with the Storm. Crown defeated North Central 3-0 to keep the Rams in search of their first conference win of the season.

North Central (1-17) fell behind early in the first set and lost 25-17. Things looked like the Rams might turn the tide of the match when they rallied in the second set to take a 15-10 lead. But the Storm game back and with the set tied at 21-21 the hosts ran off four straight points to take a 2-0 match lead.

Set three saw NCU take a 10-5 lead but Crown came back to eventually tie the match at 13-13. The teams would keep things close for the rest of the match including an 18-18 tie before the Storm got another 25-21 victory.

Senior Mariah Simonson (Zumbrota, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazeppa) led NCU with 12 kills and 2 service aces. Freshman Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) had seven kills on 22 attacks with no errors and 3 block assists.

The Rams will be back in action tomorrow at the University of Minnesota-Morris at 11 a.m.
