Box Score DULUTH, Minn.-- Women's Basketball opened the game by going nearly five minutes without a field goal and could not overcome an ice cold shooting performance on the way to a 77-44 road loss to The College of St. Scholastica on Tuesday night. North Central struggled shooting from the floor and turned the ball over at their worst rate of the season in a painful set back at Reif Gymnasium.
North Central (2-4, 0-0) was just 7-26 (.269) from the floor in the first half while turning the ball over 17 times, helping St. Scholastica build a 39-15 halftime cushion. The second half was improved but not nearly enough to allow the Rams a chance to climb back into the contest.
For the contest NCU shot 17-55 (.309) from the floor and turned the ball over 30 times with just 9 assists. Junior Jorie Grenell (Lakeville, Minn./Spring Lake Park) led the Rams with 10 points. Senior Heidee Kollenda (Menominee, Mich./Menominee) had a game high 10 rebounds. Senior Elisabeth Trickey scored 8 points despite fouling out after recording just 21 minutes of playing time.
North Central and St. Scholastica met up in a unique scheduling situation due to the Rams being added to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) last spring. The teams had already scheduled contests but with the addition of a home and away conference series the Rams and Saints will meet two more times this season.
NCU will host St. Scholastica on January 26 at 3 p.m. before once again traveling to Duluth for a 5:30 p.m. tip off on February 15 in each team's next to last regular season game of the year.
North Centrall will be back in action at home on Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip-off verses NCCA regional opponent Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, Iowa).
