Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- North Central Volleyball was defeated 3-0 on the road by The College of St. Scholastica in a UMAC conference match on Friday afternoon. The Saints jumped on NCU early and the Rams were not able to respond in a tough loss in the opening game of their conference schedule.
North Central (0-11, 0-1) dropped a 25-5 first set to the Saints but tried to rebound in set two taking a 4-1 lead early on. NCU kept things within reach for several more rallies but found themselves down 8-6 and that would be as close as things would be the rest of the way in a 25-16 set two loss.
Set three saw St Scholastica jump out to an 11-2 lead but the Rams were able to answer and get to within 11-7. But after the teams traded points to get the score to 12-8 the Saints surged away for a 25-12 final set win.
Senior Mariah Simonson (Zumbrota, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazzepa) and freshman Sarah Trickey (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) led NCU with 3 kills.
North Central will back in action on Saturday morning with an 11 a.m. conference match verses Northland College (Ashland, Wis.). NCU will also play Finlandia University (Hancock, Mich.) at 1 p.m. in the middle match of a triangular played at Northland College.
