Rams Cut Down by Lumberjills on the Road

ASHLAND, Wis.-- North Central Women's Soccer was defeated 2-1 by Northland College on Saturday afternoon. All the scoring took place in the first 30 minutes of action and that would be enough for the Lumberjills to take the victory in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match.

Northland jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute to put pressure on the Rams at a very early stage in the game. It appeared the Rams would be able to overcome that early goal when senior forward Valerie Massmann scored the first goal of her NCU career to equalize in the 16th minute on an assist from Karlee Hoover (Estero, Fla./Estero).

But the Jills would add another first half score in the 24th minute and that would eventually hold as the game winner in a 2-1 final outcome.

The seventh minute assist from Karlee Hoover is her fifth of the season and her ninth point on the year, both of which lead NCU.

North Central (2-5, 0-4) will be off from action until next Friday, September 27 when they travel to Crown College (St. Bonifacius, Minn.) for a road UMAC game. The Rams and Storm (2-5-1, 0-5-1) will kick off at 2 p.m.
