Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn-- North Central University Men's Soccer opened their season with a commanding 4-0 victory over Faith Baptist Bible College on Friday evening. NCU scored in the 16th minute and never looked back on the way to the NCCAA regional victory.
Junior Stephen Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn./South) scored in the 16th minute on an assist from senior Gabe Thomas (Wayland, Mich./Wayland) to give NCU a lead they would never relinquish. Junior David Kamp (Walker, Mich./Tri-Unity Christian) headed home a cross from sophomore Nick Wiese (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) just before the half to seal the Rams lead at 2-0.
Sophomore Christian Stepaniak (Woodbury, Minn./Maranatha Academy) bent in a corner kick in the 65th minute for the Rams third tally of the match.
Stepaniak then assisted on the Rams 80th minute score by Nick Wiese to give each player three points on the day.
The Rams outshot Faith Baptist 22-8 and junior goalkeeper Nathan Kraines (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) earned the shutout win.
North Central will return to action today at 4 p.m. at Hamline University of the NCAA Division III Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
