Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- For the third straight game North Central University Women's Basketball was on the short end of an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference contest. Saturday saw the Rams drop a home battle with Martin Luther College and go into next week still looking for their first league win of the season.
The Rams (4-8, 0-3) struggled against full court pressure applied by Martin Luther College (New Ulm, Minn.) in some form or another for large stretches of the game, recording 24 turnovers on the night with just 12 assists and 8 steals. North Central also struggled shooting from the floor going just 18-58 (.310).
The Knights were effective enough in their offense and defense to outscore the Rams by 25 despite shooting just one more attempt from the floor than did NCU. Martin Luther also earned a 43-38 rebounding advantage and shot 20 more free throws.
North Central was led in scoring by senior Elisabeth Trickey (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) who tallied 14 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Freshman Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) also had a nice effort, earning a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Trickey and High were also the only two Rams to shoot free throws all night with the two combining to go 3-5 on the evening.
North Central will be off from action unti next Friday, January 18 when they travel to Crown College (St. Bonifacius, Minn.). The Rams and Storm will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
Each team will come into the game looking for their first conference win of the year.
