ANKENY, Iowa-- North Central University Women's Soccer broke a three game scoreless drought and ended a six game losing skid with a 5-0 road victory over Faith Baptist Bible College on Tuesday night. The Rams jumped out early and cruised to big halftime lead and held on for their second win of the year.
North Central got what would be the eventual game winner in the sixth minute from sophomore Megan Kaczmarek (Green Bay, Wis./Pulaski) on an assist from Shelby Norman (Winsted, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) to make 1-0. The goal is the second of the year for Kaczmarek and it would be the only scoring the Rams would need.
The next two goals would come a minute apart in the 12th and 13th minute and essentially sealed the Rams win. Sophomore Karlee Hoover (Estero, Fla./Estero) scored unassisted followed by another unassisted score by senior Marissa Dean (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) 60 seconds later to make it 3-0.
Shelby Norman added a goal in the 27th minute to go along with her assist and give the Rams a 4-0 halftime margin. Karlee Hoover would get her first brace of the season in the 71st minute after sustained NCU attacking resulted in an excellent finish.
North Central outshot the Eagles 18-5 with freshman keeper Rachael Chant (Shakopee, Minn./Bethany Academy) saving all three shots on goal.
Shelby Norman now leads the Rams with four goals on the year. Dean and Hoover each have a pair of goals this season. Hoover has a team high two assists and Norman leads NCU in scoring with nine points.
North Central is back in action on Friday with a 4:15 p.m. Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match at Crown College (St. Bonifacius, Minn.). Saturday the Rams continue UMAC play with a 2:15 p.m. home match against The University of Minnesota-Morris (Morris, Minn.).
