Minneapolis, Minn - North Central women's soccer played host to the Lumberjills of Northland College on Friday afternoon in Coon Rapids. The Rams came up short and were defeated by a score of 1-0.
With only six Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) games remaining, North Central (2-12-0, 0-9-0) looked to notch its first conference win Friday but the Lumberjills had different ideas.
The Rams offense came out strong in the first half and created many scoring opportunities yet were unable to capitalize. The first half came to an end with a 0-0 score.
The second half did not begin well for the Rams as Northland got on the board with what turned out to be the game-winner in the 54th minute.
Rams keeper Rachael Chant (Shakopee, Minn/Bethany Academy) recorded seven saves on eight shots. Sophomore forward Shelby Norman (Winstead, Minn/Watertown-Mayer) led the team with 5 shots (3 on goal).
North Central returns to action Saturday afternoon as they face The College of St. Scholastica (10-2-1, 9-0-0), who currently sit atop the UMAC standings. Kick-off is scheduled for 12pm at Coon Rapids Soccer Complex.
