Box Score 2 Minneapolis, MN-- The North Central University Volleyball team continued conference play Saturday afternoon as they hosted Bethany Lutheran College and the University of Northwestern- St. Paul at the Clark-Danielson Gymnasium.
In the afternoon game, the Rams (5-20, 1-8) lost to Bethany Lutheran (Mankato, Minn.) 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-21). North Central was led by sophomore Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./ Buffalo) who had a team-high eight kills in the match. High ranks sixth in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference with 2.52 kills per set and she ranks seventh with 210 kills on the year. Freshman Elissa Pheneger (Roseville, Minn./ Concordia Academy) led the team with 17 assists in the match; she ranks fourth in the UMAC with 5.69 assists per set. Sophomore Whitney Reames (Vassar, Mich./ Vassar) had a strong performance with three kills and a team-high seven digs.
The Rams recorded 22 kills in the match with 30 errors on 85 total attacks (-.094pct).
In the night game, North Central (5-21, 1-9) lost to the University of Northwestern- St. Paul (St. Paul, Minn.) 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-10). Northwestern (16-11, 9-1) entered the match as the second ranked team in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
The Rams were led by Sophomore Sarah Trickey (Waseca, Minn./ Waseca) as she recorded a team-high nine kills in the contest. Jamie High posted five kills in the match to go along with a team-high six digs.
North Central had an early 7-6 lead in set one but were overpowered the rest of the night by the Eagles who were led by senior setter Krista Stoltz. Stoltz recorded 39 assists in the match to surpass the 4000 career assists mark.
The Rams had 21 kills in the match with 17 errors on 82 total attacks (.049pct).
North Central Volleyball resumes play on Friday as they travel to Northland College (Ashland, Wisc.) to take on the Lumber Jills at 7pm.
