Bethany Lutheran Gets Past Rams

MANKATO, Minn.-- Women's Soccer was in the game for the full 90 minutes against Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday afternoon. But the Rams gave up a goal in the 15th minute and could not find the equalizer in a 1-0 road loss Upper Midwest Athletic Conference loss to the Vikings.

North Central allowed the Vikings to get in front in the first 15 minutes and that would be all the host needed to claim the season sweep of the Rams. BLC earned a 5-2 shot advantage in the first half but the Rams were able to play possession soccer and give themselves a chance to keep in close and fight for the equalizer for the rest of the match.

Bethany Lutheran claimed a 9-3 shot advantage and earned a 3-0 margin in corner kicks but the Rams managed to keep the Vikings off the scoreboard in the second 45 minutes. Unfortunately NCU was not able to equalize in a tough 1-0 road loss.

Freshman goalkeeper Rachael Chant (Chanhassen, Minn./Bethany Academy) stopped seven of the eight shots she faced in net. While suffering a season sweep at the hands of BLC, North Central did manage to improve on the 3-1 home loss they suffered to the Vikings in the UMAC opener for both teams back in September.

The Rams return to action in their final UMAC double header weekend of the year on Friday and Saturday. Friday the Rams take on The University of Minnesota-Morris (Morris, Minn.) on the road before hosting Crown College (St. Bonifacius, Minn.) at home on Saturday. Friday's match in Morris begins at 1 p.m. while Saturday's battle with the Storm is slated for a Noon kickoff.
