Box Score Minneapolis, Minn.-- The North Central University Volleyball team continued conference play over the weekend as they traveled to Northland College on Friday night and to the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams (5-23, 1-10) entered Friday nights contest against the Lumber Jills (Ashland, Wisc.) searching for their first road win of the year. After dropping the first two sets, North Central controlled the third set winning 25-15. The Rams played well in the fourth set, but eventually lost 26-24 to drop the match three sets to one.
North Cental was led by sophomore Sarah Trickey (Waseca, Minn./ Waseca) who led the offensive attack with a team-high 14 kills. Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./ Buffalo) recorded ten kills in the match. Sophomore Karlee Cox (Des Moines, Iowa/ Saydel) had a strong defensive effort as she posted a season-high 20 digs. Freshman Elissa Pheneger (Roseville, Minn./ Concordia Academy) stabilized the Rams frontline attack with 35 assists in the loss to Northland (3-21, 1-9).
On Saturday, North Central (5-24, 1-11) traveled to Duluth, Minnesota to play against the College of Saint Scholastica (10-14, 6-5). The Rams lost the match 3-0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-5).
Sarah Trickey and Jamie High led the Rams with four kills each in the contest. North Central recorded 13 kills and 12 errors on 93 total attacks (.011pct).
The Rams continue action this Tuesday as they play in the Hamline Triangular against Hamline University (Saint Paul, Minn.) and the University of Wisconsin Stout (Menomonie, Wisc.). First game is set for 3:30 p.m. in St. Paul.
