Men's Soccer Settles for Draw With Storm in Regular Season Finale

Box Score

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- Men's Soccer finished their regular season with a road loss at The University of Minnesota-Morris before drawing at home with Crown College on Saturday afternoon. Morris defeated the Rams 3-0 off three first half goals on Friday evening. Saturday saw NCU get up in the first half before a second half equalizer forced the teams to play two overtimes in a match that ended 1-1 after 110 mintues.

North Central dropped a 3-0 match to Minnesota-Morris (Morris, Minn.) on Friday in a game where Morris was playing for a second seed in the league post season tournament. The victory helped the Cougars keep pace in the race to host a home tournament game next week.

Saturday, the Rams got a go ahead goal from junior Christian Stepaniak (Woodbury, Minn./Maranatha Christian) in the 44th minute that would give NCU a lead at the break. But one of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference's most dangerous scorers, Truman Shetler, got the tying goal in the 86th minute to force overtime.

The two teams played two ten minute overtime periods but neither side could come up with a game winner. NCU outshot the Storm 32-15 on the day and claimed their second draw in UMAC play this season.

The 1-1 draw comes after the Storm defeated NCU 3-1 in early October. The Rams end the UMAC schedule 1-11-2. The goal was the second of the year for Stepaniak.

The Rams have wrapped up their regular season but will participate in the NCCAA Regional Tournament next week. Friday, November 8, the Rams take on Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, Iowa) at 3 p.m. Faith Baptist is the host for the tournament.
