Women's Hoops Falls to Dubuque; Rebounds to Blast Faith Baptist

ANKENY, Iowa-- After allowing an opponent to score a program record point total, Women's Basketball bounced back by dominating an oppponent the next night. Friday, North Central dropped a 127-54 match up with The University of Dubuque before coming back to win 70-45 at Faith Baptist Bible College on Saturday evening.

Friday, North Central (5-4, 0-0) began their weekend roadtrip to Iowa with a visit to The University of Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa). NCU was behind from the beginning and trailed 62-24 at the half before allowing the Spartans to score a program record point total in a 127-54 loss. Sophomore Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) continued the great start to her second year by posting her sixth double-double in nine games with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Seniors Julia Skeesick (Victoria, Minn./Chaska) and Jorie Grenell (Lakeville, Minn./Spring Lake Park) each added 13 points in the loss.

North Central responded to a rough game on Friday by turning up their effort on Saturday versus Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, Iowa). That effort resulted in a run away win for the Rams. After allowing the Eagles to score on their first possession, NCU went on an 11-0 run and would never trail again in the game.

After leading by as many as 12 over the first 8 minutes North Central led by just a 23-18 differential with less than 8 minutes left in the half. But the Rams used a 15-3 run over the remaining time to pull away for good and lead 38-21 at the break.

North Central scored the first six points of the second half and put to rest any come back attempts by the hosts. Jamie High connected on a jumper that gave NCU a 42-21 lead at the 17:21 mark and the Rams would never again lead by less than 20 points the rest of the way. 

Senior Jorie Grenell got her scoring going with an individual and team season best 26 points along with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Jamie High posted another double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds. Julia Skeesick posted her second straight double figure scoring total of 10 points with 5 assists.

North Central is finished with the 2013 portion of their schedule and will open 2014 with a home game versus The University of Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.). January 11 the Rams host the Eagles at 3 p.m. in CLC Gymnasium.
