Box Score 2 ST. PAUL, Minn.-- Red hot hitting from Northwestern College and a combined 13 errors in just 10 innings of softball doomed North Central University on Wednesday night. The Eagles took 18-2 and 16-1 wins over the Rams in a pair of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference games at Reynolds Field.
Game one saw North Central (4-11, 2-7) commit seven errors that led to 11 unearned runs in a five inning, 18-2 blasting. To make the situation worse the Eagles pounded out 15 hits to knock in seven earned runs dispite only one of those hits garnering extra bases. Senior Hannah Gordon (Boise, Idaho/Centennial) was 1-2 with an RBI. Senior Elisabeth Trickey (Waseca, Minn.) and freshman Rachel Thearin (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) were each 1-2 with a triple.
Things did not improve much in game two for NCU. North Central commited a collection of six errors in the five inning loss and produced just four hits at the plate in a 16-1 thrashing. The Eagles continued to slug away, recording 21 hits including seven doubles and a pair of home runs to produce 12 earned runs. Hannah Gordon and Rachel Thearin were each 1-2 with a double. Freshman Megan Myers (Cannon Falls, Minn./Randolf) was 1-2 with an RBI.
North Central look to rebound from their poor performance when they get back to action on Friday morning. NCU will take on Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.) in a UMAC double-header at 9:30 a.m. at the Rosemount Dome in Rosemount, Minnesota.
Saturday the Rams will take on Martin Luther College (New Ulm, Minn.) in a UMAC double-header at 6:30 p.m. at the Plymouth Creek Dome in Plymouth, Minnesota.
