Baseball Falls to Arlington Baptist in Double-header at Satchel Paige Stadium

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- In a season filled with weather cancellations and postponements college baseball teams across the midwest are getting creative in their scheduling. Saturday North Central University traveld to Kansas City to get in a pair of games that were scheduled late in the week. The Rams took on Arlington Baptist College at Satchel Paige Stadium with the Patriots traveling from their Texas campus to earn a sweep against NCU. 

Game one:

The North Central University Rams jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 8-3 to Arlington Baptist College (Arlington, Texas) on Saturday.

Arlington Baptist took the lead in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Cook.

William Rosevear (Canton, Mich./Homeschool) racked up three RBIs on one hit for the North Central University Rams. He homered in the first inning.

Berrett recorded the win for Arlington Baptist. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out nine, walked two and surrendered three hits.

The North Central jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Ian Andrews (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) singled to ignite the North Central University Rams' offense. Rosevear homered, scoring senior Gary Ramos (Chicago, Ill./Foreman) and Andrews.

Arlington Baptist got two-run rallies in the third inning and the fourth. In the third, Arlington Baptist scored on a groundout by Zach Thompson, scoring Josh Beckham.

Arlington Baptist never surrendered the lead after the fourth inning, scoring two runs on a sacrifice fly by Cook and an RBI single by Devin Patton.

Arlington Baptist added three more runs in the top of the sixth. A steal of home scored Beckham to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Ryan Wagley's double, bringing home McCarty.

In the loss senior RHP Devin Lehnhoff (Ellendale, Minn./Ellendale) became the Rams all time leader in starts and went seven full innings to also become the career leader in complete games. He has gone the distance in 18 of his 28 starts.

Game two:

The Rams lost 12-0 in game two on Saturday as Grimm allowed one hit over five innings.

Devin Lehnhoff paced the North Central at the plate. Lehnhoff went 1-2. He doubled in the fifth inning.

Arlington Baptist pounded the North Central University Rams pitching, as six hitters combined for eight hits, 11 RBIs and eight runs scored.

Arlington Baptist went up for good in the first, scoring four runs on a two-run double by Gerhard, a groundout by Hector Moreno, and an RBI single by Ryan Wagley.

Arlington Baptist tacked on another three runs in the second. A error scored Wagley for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Goetz's single, plating Hector Moreno and McCarty.

North Central is scheduled to be back in action on Friday with a 1 p.m. double-header at home versus Crown College (St. Bonifacius, Minn.).
