Minneapolis, Minn-- The North Central University Men's Basketball team entered Saturday's contest looking for their first conference win of the young season as they took on the Martin Luther College Knights in New Ulm, Minn.

The Rams (5-6, 0-3) came up short losing to the Knights (3-11, 2-1) 79-73.

The games largest lead was 9 with 10:52 remaining in the second half as Martin Luther was able to hold on to their lead despite the three point shooting of junior Josh High (Buffalo, Minn/ Buffalo).

High was 6-10 from behind the arc in the game accounting for all 18 of his points. North Central was led offensively by sophomore Luke Chafin (Dayton, Ohio/ Troy Christian) as the 2012-2013 Freshman of the Year had a team-high 25 points and seven assists. Senior Bryce Burkman (Winsted, Minn./ Maple Grove) was consistent from the field connecting on six of seven field goal attempts leading to 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

After trailing for much of the second half, North Central was able to tie the game at 63 after a three-pointer by Chafin. From their, the Knights went on a 7-0 to help carry them to victory and their second conference win.

North Central went 27-61 (44.3%) from the field including 9-27 (33.3%) from behind the three point line in the loss.

The Rams continue play on Tuesday as they travel to Rochester, Minn. to take on Crossroads College at 7p.m.
