Box Score Minneapolis, Minn.-- The North Central University Women's Basketball team won their first conference game of the season Friday night as they defeated Crown College 75-52 at Clark-Danielson Gymnasium in Minneapolis.
North Central (6-7, 1-3) controlled the game from the opening tip using a powerful low post game provided by sophomore Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./ Buffalo) and solid outside shooting by sophomore Shelby Norman (Winsted, Minn./ Watertown-Mayer) to defeat the Storm (St. Bonifacious, Minn).
Norman was 6-10 from behind the three-point line leading to a season-high 24 points to go along with seven rebounds and two assists. High finished the game with 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Norman scored 18 points in the first 8:50 of the game as she connected on all four of her three-point attempts, including an 'and-one' three at the 14:48 mark of the first half. Her hot shooting helped the Rams pull away from Crown (1-12, 0-4) and take a 43-25 lead into halftime.
Senior Jorie Grenell (Lakeville, Minn./ Spring Lake Park) added 15 points of her own to go with four assists. Senior Julia Skeesick (Victoira, Minn./ Chaska) scored eight points, all in the second half, to go along with a team-high eight assists. Senior Abby Geselle (Glenwood, Minn./ Minnewaska) scored her first points of the season as she scored seven points in the game on 3-6 shooting.
The Rams shot 28-62 from the field (45.2%) and 10-23 (43.5%) from three-point range as the team collected 21 assists on the night.
North Central continues conference play tomorrow evening, as the Rams play host to the University of Minnesota-Morris (Morris, Minn.) at 5p.m. in Minneapolis.
