Box Score KENOSHA, Wis.-- Balanced scoring was not enough to help North Central overcome a big rebounding deficit in their season opener on Saturday. Four Rams notched double-digit scoring but Carthage College defeated North Central 85-73 in Kenosha.
North Central (0-1, 0-0 UMAC) was within 46-37 at the break but never found a way to get back in the game. Carthage shot .569 (29-51) from the floor on the day and pounded the Rams 37-25 on the glass. Overall, NCU was a respectable 28-57 (.491) from the floor but committed 10 turnovers with only 7 assists.
Senior Jordan Harrell (Maple Grove, Minn.) was a perfect 7-7 from the floor with 16 points and 3 rebounds but played just 19 minutes and fouled out of the game. Senior Luke Chafin (Dayton, Ohio/Troy Christian) also tallied 16 points.
Junior Josh High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) posted12 points on 4-5 shooting from behind the three-point line. In his first career game for North Central freshman Travis Voigt (Green Bay, Wis./N.E.W. Lutheran) scored 13 points and grabbed a team high four rebounds in just 16 minutes of action.
North Central is back in action tonight in their home opener. The Rams host Macalester College (St. Paul, Minn.) at 7 p.m.
