MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- Women's Basketball opened their season at home on Saturday against Augsburg College. The Rams fell behind by double figures midway through the half and never recovered in a 61-32 loss to the Auggies in CLC Gymnasium.

North Central (0-1, 0-0 UMAC) managed just two field goals over the first nine minutes of the game and trailed 14-5 when junior Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) scored the first of her team high nine points with just over 11 minutes left in the first half. NCU was able to stay with Augsburg on the glass through the first 20 minutes begin outrebounded by a narrow 18-15 margin but were doubled up on the scoreboard by a 28-14 difference at the break.

The second half saw NCU outrebound the Auggies 19-17 but a .304 (7-23) shooting percentage from kept the Rams from mounting a comeback in the loss. Jamie High narrowly missed keeping her consecutive streak of double-doubles alive, finishing with 9 points and a game high 11 rebounds. High finished last season with seven straight double figure performances in both rebounds and points.

Senior Shelby Norman (Winsted, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) added 9 points and junior Melissa Kidd (Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park) scored 8 points along with 6 boards.

The Rams will be back in action on Friday and Saturday at the ACR Homes Tip-off Classic hosted by The University of Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.). Friday, NCU takes on Hamline University (St. Paul, Minn.) at 2 p.m. before taking on Finlandia University (Hancock, Mich.) at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
