Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn.-- Women's Basketball fell to Hamline University on the first night of the ACR Homes Tip-Off Classic on Friday night. The Rams got a breakout night from Lizzy Swanson and a pair of double double performances from a pair of upper classman forwards but it was not enough in a 68-56 defeat.
North Central (0-2, 0-0 UMAC) battled with Hamline University (St. Paul, Minn.) and stayed within single digits for much of the first half before the Pipers pushed the difference to 34-23 at the half. In the second half, Hamline surged hard out of the locker room with what proved to be a decisive 10-2 run. North Central would trail by as many as 26 with around 8 minutes left.
The Rams would fight back to close the gap down the stretch and closed the final four minutes on a 14-2 run. Freshman Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) double figure scoring in just her second career game with a team high 24 points.
Juniors Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) and Melissa Kidd (Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake) both posted their first double-double performances of the year. High had 10 points and 10 boards with 2 steals and a 6-6 night at the free throw line. High has now posted double-double performances in nine of her last ten games. Kidd scored 11 points with 10 boards and 3 blocks.
North Central will be back in action on Saturday afternoon in day two of the ACR Homes Tip-Off Classic hosted by The University of Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.). The Rams will take on Finlandia University (Hancock, Mich.) at 1 p.m. The first 50 North Central students in attendance will get in free.
