Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn.-- Women's Basketball is still looking for their first win of the young 2014-15 season after falling to Finlandia University on Saturday afternoon. The Rams were tied with the Lions at the break and got career high scoring efforts from a pair of freshman but it was not enough in a 68-73 loss.
North Central (0-3, 0-0 UMAC) was tied with Finlandia at 33-33 at the break after the teams traded leads through the first 20 minutes. But the Lions opened on an 11-2 run in the second half and the Rams spent the rest of the half trying to play catch-up with Finlandia.
Freshman Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) got a lay-up with 6:42 left that got the Rams within 63-60. North Central then went without a bucket for over 3 minutes and the lead swelled to 75-60 with 3:10 left and that would prove too much for the Rams to overcome.
Lizzy Swanson marked her third college game by scoring a game high 25 points along with 6 boards and 5 assists. Junior Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) added 16 points and 8 rebound while freshman Marissa Kari (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes) posted a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Amanda Mogen (Watford City, S.D./Watford City) pulled down a game high 13 rebounds.
North Central will be back in action on Tuesday when they host St. Catherine University (St. Paul, Minn.). The Rams and Wildcats are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
