Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn.-- North Central traveled across town to take on The University of Northwestern on Tuesday evening. The Rams hung with the Eagles for much of the first half before they fell behind by double figures before halftime and were unable to catch up in a 69-50 loss.
North Central (8-10, 2-6) was within 16-7 at the halfway point of the opening half but after the Rams missed a chance to cut into the lead it built up to a 35-16 hole at the break. NCU struggled from the floor in the first 20 mintues firing just 5-28 (.179) from the floor while being out rebounded 32-15.
In the second half the Rams saw the difference swell to as many as 25 in the first five minutes before NCU could get their shooting back on track. Over the next eight minutes the Rams chipped away to get within 59-46 with 7:26 left but that would be as close as NCU could get over the rest of the night.
Senior Jorie Grenell (Lakeville, Minn./Spring Lake Park) is well on track to reach the NCU career scoring record adding a game high 24 points with a stretch where she connected on five straight three point shots. She also added seven boards and three steals.
Senior Julia Skeesick (Victoria, Minn/Chaska) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Sophomore Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) scored seven points and pulled down a team high 13 boards.
NCU will be back in action on Friday when they travel to The University of Minnesota-Morris (Morris, Minn.). The Rams will tip off at 5:30 p.m. versus the Cougars.
