MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- Women's Tennis is still looking for their first win of the year after falling in a pair of weekend road matches in conference play. Friday the Rams were defeated by Bethany Lutheran College before losing to The College of St. Scholastica on Saturday, both by 9-0 scorelines.
North Central fell in straight sets to Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.) at the BLC Tennis Courts on Friday. All three doubles matches were 8-2 losses. Sophomore Hope Carlson (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Lake Holcombe) lost a tough match in second singles by a 6-0, 4-6 (10-4) scoreline in a tie breaker. Sophomore Sarah Trickey (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) also lost in a tie break by a 6-2, 6-7 (10-7) in third singles. Senior Regina Rassmussen (Richland Center, Wis./Eagle) lost a close match in fifth singles by a 7-5, 7-5 count.
Saturday the Rams were defeated 9-0 by The College of St. Scholastica (Duluth, Minn.) at Arrowhead Tennis Center. Six of the nine matches were straight set losses for the Rams. Sophomore Nicole Demuth (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) and Hope Carlson went down 8-1 in top doubles while Carlson fell 6-1, 6-0 in the second singles slot. Sarah Trickey was defeated 6-0, 6-1 in the third singles spot.
North Central will be back in action at home on Tuesday. The Rams host The University of Minnesota-Morris (Morris, Minn.) in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action at 5 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center.
