Box Score 2 MAUSTON, Wis.-- Baseball got their Upper Midwest Athletic Conference schedule underway on Saturday and Sunday. The Rams struggled at the plate and that lack was magnified by a collection of errors that helped give Northland College a weekend series sweep over North Central.
North Central opened the weekend on Saturday with a 14-3 loss to Northland College (Ashland. Wis.). The Rams commited seven errors while posting just four hits in the disppointing loss. Junior David Babcock (Fresno, Calif./Buchanan) was 1-2 with a pair of walks and a double in the leadoff spot. Sophomore William Rosevear (Canton, Mich./Homeschool) was 1-4 with two RBI. Sophomore Cody Van Sickle (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem) was 1-3 with an RBI.
The back half of the Saturday double-header was no better for the Rams as the Lumberjacks took a 15-1 victory. NCU commited eight errors that led to seven unearned runs while only getting three hits from their own battery. William Rosevear was 1-3 with a double. David Babcock was 1-3 with a stolen base.
Looking to rebound on Sunday, the Rams saw things blow up quickly in their series finale. The Rams gave up 22 runs in the first two innings and would only manage three hits in a 28-2 drubbbing. Nine Rams errors, six in the first two innings, would allow Northland 14 unearned runs.
Cody Van Sickle was 1-3 with an RBI triple. William Rosevear and freshman Matt Treadwell (Dickinson, Texas/Bay Area) were each 1-3.
The Rams will be back in action on Tuesday with a double-header at Wintercrest Park. NCU will host The University of Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.) at 1 p.m.
