Volleyball Falls to Macalester on Tuesday Evening

ST. PAUL, Minn.-- North Central Women's Volleyball could not take their momentum from winning their final match of the Eagle Spikefest on Saturday and carry it into a victory in the Twin Cities this evening. After winning a thrilling five set match on Saturday afternoon over the American Institute of Business, the Rams traveled to St. Paul on Tuesday and were swept in three sets by Macalester College.

North Central (1-4, 0-0 UMAC) was defeated by Macalester (St. Paul, Minn.) in straight sets on Tuesdsay and never found their offensive rhythm. After falling behind by five early in they got to within 17-11 but dropped the opener 25-13. The second set saw NCU fall behind 21-9 before a rally got NCU to within 22-15 but the Scots claimed a 25-18 final tally.

The Scots pulled away early in the third and secured the match with a 25-10 final set victory. Offensively the Rams hit just .032 on the day with 14 attack errors. Freshman Sarah Hundeby (Elbow, Saskatchewan / Caronport) led the Rams with six kills on 21 swings. Sophomore Elissa Pheneger (Roseville, Minn./Concordia Academy) assisted on 12 of the Rams 16 kills.

North Central returns to action on Thursday with a pair of matches in their annual Rams Volleyball Invitational. They will take on Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, Iowa) at 4 p.m. before playing Trinity Bible College (Ellendale, N.D.) at 8 p.m.
