MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- It took over 100 minutes to decide a winner between the Rams and Lumberjacks of Northland College at the National Sports Center on Saturday.

After a difficult loss to St. Scholastica the day before, the Rams were able to bounce back within 24 hours to put in a strong showing against the Jacks.

North Central were arguably the better side in the first half as they held much of the possession, which translated to 11 shots compared to the Lumberjacks' five. Even though the Rams controlled the play, both side went into the half scoreless.

The Lumberjacks came out better in the second half and got the game's first goal in the 52nd minute.

But the Rams would rally and answer back with a goal of their own in the 64th minute. The goal came when a Northland foul led to a set piece just outside the 18-yard box.

North Central sophomore, Ryan Windauer (Polson, Mont. / MVCA) whipped in a ball to which fellow sophomore, Steven Klipek (Kenosha, Wis. / Christian Life) was able to get his foot too and deposite into the top corner of the net, leveling the game at 1-1.

The match remained level after 90 minutes of play, and the two sides headed for extra time. In UMAC conference play, extra time is played in a golden goal format with two, 10-minute halves.

In the second half of extra time, a Lumberjacks forward was able to latch onto a bouncing ball and poke it into the goal, simultaniously breaking the hearts of every Rams fan in attendance and ending the game with a final score of 2-1.

The Rams will look to build off this good showing next weekend as they travel to New Ulm and Mankato to face off against Martin Luther College and Bethany Lutheran College. The matches are schelduled to kick off at 4:15 on Friday and 2:00 on Saturday.
