Box Score DULUTH, Minn.-- Women's Basketball fell behind early and struggled to keep up with The College of St. Scholastica on Saturday. The Saints built a big first half lead and after the Rams made a run in the second half, the hosts pulled away for an 80-52 win over North Central in Duluth.
North Central (5-8, 1-2 UMAC) hung tough with St. Scholastica (Duluth, Minn.) for the first 10 minutes but the Saints took control late in the half. NCU trailed just 15-10 with less than 13 minutes to go in the half but the home team slowly wore down the Rams. CSS took a 43-25 advantage to the break.
Over the first seven minutes of the second half the Rams were able to fight to within 51-36. St. Scholastica responded with a 9-0 run that would prove greater than anything the Rams would be able to overcome on the night.
In the midst of a tough night, junior Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) posted her second straight double-double in the first three Upper Midwest Athletic Conference games on the NCU schedule. High scored a game high 21 points along with 11 rebounds and 4 assists. High is now less than 150 points from reaching 1000 for her career and is eighth all time in the NCU record books in scoring.
Freshman Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) was the only other Ram in double figures with 13 points. Senior Shelby Norman (Winsted, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) chipped in nine points.
After opening the UMAC slate on the road for the first three games, North Central will head into a three game homestand beginning next weekend. Friday the Rams host Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.) at 5:30 p.m. before hosting Martin Luther College (New Ulm, Minn.) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
