Women's Tennis Begins Season Up North at St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn.-- North Central got their season underway on Saturday with a match hosted by The College of St. Scholastica. The reigning Upper Midwest Athletic Conference champion handled the Rams 9-0 in a match played at Arrowhead Tennis Center in Duluth.

The Rams found it tough going against the Saints on Saturday afternoon. Top doubles, number one, three and four singles matches were the only slots where Scholastica did not sweep North Central (0-1, 0-1 UMAC).

Freshmen Amber Wolfe (West Fargo, N.D./West Fargo) and Allegra Edwards (Roseville, Minn./Minnesota Virtual Academy) fell 8-1 in the top doubles match before Wolfe was defeated 6-0, 6-2 in the top singles slot. Junior Hope Carlson (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Lake Holcombe) was defeated 6-0, 6-1 in the third singles match while junior Hannah Hein (Montevideo, Minn./Montevideo) lost 6-1, 6-0.

North Central will be back in action on Saturday with another road match. The Rams are set to play at Macalester College (St. Paul, Minn.) with the first serve time still to be determined.
