MANKATO, Minn.-- The regular season finale was less than North Central hoped for as the Rams fell 5-1 to Bethany Lutheran College. North Central fell behind in the first ten minutes and surrendered a trio of second half goals in the road loss to the Vikings on Tuesday night.
North Central (5-10-1, 2-7-1 UMAC) fell behind in the ninth minute before they got an equalizing goal from junior Dakotah Sparrman (Apple Valley, Minn./Shattuck-St Marys) on an assist from senior Karlee Hoover (Naples, Fla./Estero) in the 31st minute. But that was one of few chances in the first half for North Central and the Vikings added another goal just before the break. BLC outshot the Rams 15-5 in the first 45 minutes.
Most doubts about the final outcome were erased when Bethany Lutheran added a third goal in the 54th minute. Two more goals for the Vikings game in the 73rd and 78th minute to create the final 5-1 scoreline.
The goal for Dakotah Sparrman is her 27th of the year and keeps her among the top five in goals in the NCAA Divsion III.
North Central will now prep for the post season as they host the NCCAA Division II region tournament this weekend at Elliot Park Field. The Rams have earned a spot in the region final, just one victory from a berth in the 2015 NCCAA National Championship. The Rams will play the winner of Friday's semi-final between second seed Providence University-College (Otterburne, Manitoba) and third seed Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, Iowa).
