MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- Women's Soccer completed a nearly perfect season sweep in NCCAA regional play on Saturday with a 4-0 region final victory. The win over Providence University-College gives the Rams the region championship and an automatic berth in the NCCAA National Championship.
The Rams wrapped up competition in the NCCAA North Central region on Saturday with a controlled 4-0 win over Providence University-College in the regional tournament final. NCU did not allow a goal and Rams goalkeepers faced just three shots on goal in regional play.
Junior Dakotah Sparrman (Apple Valley, Minn./Shattock-St. Marys) posted a hat trick on the day and opened the scoring in the 28th minute and added another in the 34th minute to send the Rams to the interval up 2-0. The Rams outshot the Pilots 14-3 in the first 45 minutes.
The Rams turned up the effort in the second half and freshman Jolynn Granson (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) notched her first career college goal in the 77th minute that essentially cut off any chance the vistors would rally back. Dakotah Sparrman put in another goal in the 87th minute to cap off a dominant performance.
The Rams have wrapped up their regular season schedule and will now await the NCCAA national seeding call to find out their next opponent in the first round of the national championship tournament. The NCCAA National Championship tournament will be held in Kissimee, Florida on November 11-14 at Austin-Tindall Regional Park.
