Rams Stopped By Scots

Box Score

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- Women's Basketball is still searching for their first win of the year after dropping their home opener to Macalester College on Tuesday. The Rams led briefly for the early stages before a second quarter surge gave the Scots a decisive advantage they held onto in a 62-46 victory for the visiting squad.

North Central (0-2, 0-0 UMAC) led 8-2, five minutes into the first quarter but Macalester College (St. Paul, Minn.) managed to claw back in front 13-11 by the end of the first quarter. The second stanza would prove the difference in the match up as the Scots outscored the Rams 20-9 and led 33-20 at the break.

An otherwise close game outside a lone barren stretch in the second quarter tighted up in the fourth and final 10 minute segment. NCU outscored Macalester 13-11 in the final period but it would not be enough. A surge that cut the Scot's advantage from 22 with 6 minutes left to 58-46 at the 2:48 made things interesting down the stretch but that would be as close as the Rams would get.

Senior Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) picked up where she left off last season by posting her second double-double of the year with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) added 14 points and 5 rebounds.

The Rams will look to get in the win column for the first time this season when they continue non-conference action at home this weekend. Friday, NCU hosts Hamline University (St. Paul, Minn.) at 5:30 p.m. before hosting Buena Vista University (Storm Lake, Iowa) on Saturday at 3 p.m. as part of the ACR Homes Tip-Off Classic.
