Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- Men's Soccer had their historic season come to a tough ending on Monday afternoon. The Rams lost 3-0 to Bethany Lutheran College in the opening round of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference playoffs.
In their first ever appearance in the conference post-season playoffs, the Rams had a positive first half before surrendering a goal in the 42nd minute when usually reliable goalkeeper Andrew Eliason (Milan, Mich./Milan) mishandled a cross and it deflected directly to a Bethany attacker who knocked it in to give the Vikings the lead. Despite outshooting BLC 10-3, the Rams would trail 1-0 at the break.
Bethany would get another goal against the run of play to make it 2-0 in the 53rd and it would be uphill for the Rams the rest of the way. The Vikings would close up the scoring with a final goal with less than five minutes remaining. The game would end with each time firing nine shots on frame.
While the final conclusion was disapointing for the Rams, it follows a season where the Rams acheived a fourth place regular season finish, the highest in program history, after being pegged to finish eighth of nine teams in the preseason coaches poll.
