Box Score MINNEAPOLIS-- Women's Basketball got another great night from Lizzy Swanson but fell to Buena Vista University at home on Saturday afternoon. North Central made the Beavers work for their lead but eventually BVU pulled away for a 75-52 win over the Rams.
North Central (1-3, 0-0 UMAC) was down just 19-13 after a quarter of action in Clark-Danielson gym on Saturday but the size and athleticism of Buena Vista University (Storm Lake, Iowa) would take its toll in wearing down the Rams who had played in an overtime victory on Friday night. The Beavers would enjoy a 38-23 advantage at the halftime break.
Out of the lockeroom BVU would only extend its lead by outscoring the Rams by 14 points in the third quarter to nearly double up North Central by a 62-33 scoreline after 30 minutes. North Central would get a few points back in the final ten minutes by earning a 19-13 scoring edge in the final quarter but it was too little to late for NCU.
Sophomore Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) continues to be a force scoring a game high 26 points. Senior Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) posted 7 points and a game high 10 boards with 3 steals, 3 blocks and 3 assists.
North Central travels across town for it's third non-conference game of the season against a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team on Tuesday. The Rams are set to take on St. Catherine University (St. Paul, Minn.) at 7 p.m. NCU is 1-1 against MIAC teams with a loss against Macalester College (St. Paul, Minn.) and a victory over Hamline University (St. Paul, Minn.)
